Plant a Seed, Read during our 2026 Summer Reading Challenge!
June 22, 2026 – August 14, 2026
Plant the seeds of knowledge, growth, and fun this summer by reading at the library!
This summer, kids from preschool up through those entering 5th Grade in the fall can participate in our annual Read & Bead challenge! Track your child’s reading in the Beanstack Tracker website/app or with a paper log from the library. When you register your child for summer reading, they will be given a necklace. Every day between 6/22-8/14, your child can earn a bead for every 15 minutes of reading, up to 4 beads per day. Once they earn some beads, they also have the opportunity to trade them in to get beads that are glow-in-the-dark or fun shapes!
Other ways to earn beads this summer include finishing our Plant a Seed, Read Garden Path Game Board, which can be picked up in the Children’s Room or printed out at home here, writing book reviews, and by participating in additional activities! Visit our Events Calendar to view and sign up for our summer events and activities. Advance registration is required for most programs.
Be sure to stop by our Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Wednesday, June 24th between 4:00pm and 7:00pm to register for Summer Reading, get help using Beanstack, and – more importantly – enjoy an outdoor movie, face-painting, games, and other activities that will be fun for the whole family! In case of rain, this party will be held indoors in the Meeting Room and Children’s Craft Room.
Visit us in the library when our bead table is open to collect your prizes. We’ll post the bead table schedule here after it’s been finalized.
