The Parker Memorial Library offers a variety of interactive programs designed to foster a love of reading at a young age.
For infants ages 0-2, we offer the Bambinos program – a baby friendly story time with songs, rhymes and play to entertain your baby while beginning to teach language skills. For our older tots, we have Storytime for Twos, a program designed specifically for two year olds with stories, singing and rhymes designed to encourage language growth and development for toddlers, as well as an Active Play session once a month which allows kids to develop gross motor skills.
We also offer a sensory play time for children ages 0-3. This program encourages exploration of all the senses in a playful and relaxed setting.
Preschoolers will enjoy Preschool Time, a story and pre-reading program for 3-5 year olds. Stories, songs and rhymes are followed by time to explore learning stations that teach various skills such as pre-writing, letter identification, fine motor skills and number awareness.
Older children can participate in Lego building sessions, science and craft programs and special events. Drop in activities are available most Saturdays in the Children’s Room during the school year, and during the summer we have an active summer reading program for kids ages 3 – Grade 5 along with special programs.
