Crafternoons: Chair Caning

TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1:00 – 2:45 PM

Join VICKY MC MAHON for a chair caning demonstration.  Try a new experience!  Get some hands-on time working on the seat of an antique rocker!  This is your opportunity to try your hand at the venerable art of Caning!

NOTE:  If there is enough interest there will be a future opportunity to bring your own piece and supplies to work on under Vicky’s expert eye.  Vicky will advise us as to where to get projects and/or caning supplies.

Registration is Required and Opens December 17.  Space is limited to 10 participants.  This is an Adult Program.

“Cane work is a form of basketry that has been used in furniture for thousands of years. It has been dated back to Ancient China. Archeologists have discovered caned chairs in Egyptian tombs dating to 1300 B.C.”  https://www.thisoldseat.com/history-of-chair-caning

Victoria J. McMahon is a Dracut resident who has practiced the art of caning for over 30 years.
