Parenting Workshops

We are fortunate to have Marianne Blanchet (a Social Worker from Patient & Family Services, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center) offering two very pertinent parenting workshops at the Dracut Library this spring.

These programs are funded by the Family Foundations Network. The Family Foundations Network is a program funded by the Department of Early Education and Care and managed by Community Teamwork, Inc.

Please register in the Children’s Room.

Tantrum

Power Struggles and Temper Tantrums
March 10th 6:30 PM

This motivating workshop will be interesting and helpful to anyone who deals with children. You will learn why children tantrum and how power struggles look different as your child grows. You will also learn how to avoid problems, and some specific techniques to deal with misbehaviors when they can't be avoided. You will be able to start giving your child skills they can take into adulthood while getting some tranquility for your family now.

Bully

Aggression and Bullying
April 14, 6:30 pm

There is evidence that one of the most common background experiences of criminals (even serial killers) is bullying. Aggressive behaviors, such as bullying and being bullied, have been shown to be almost equally damaging.

This workshop will differentiate between normal conflict and bullying and will identify problems caused by aggression. We will learn how bullying happens and by whom, and will discuss how to know if your child is a bully or is a victim. Most importantly, you will learn what you can do to help your child get through this extremely difficult time.
